Vatican goes Tech-Savvy
It was in 2005 when Vatican sent SMS and email alert messages of John Paul's death. But it seems to have outdated. Vatican still needs to keep up with the technology. With i-phones and ipods playing a major role in communication next only to internet, it won't be long before another technology replaces internet. Vatican seems to have quite got the message. With projects like pope2you and many more that are coming up, Vatican is reading the technology just right.
Facebook and MySpace have caught the attention of Vatican, with some of the top clergymen including Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, the archbishop of Naples having their profile in Facebook. People can now send postcards and receive like RSS feed, receive email updates and do many more tech-savvy. But it has all the pros and cons of its own. People lose their real life contact and get more and more apart as these technologies replace their life. But this is a cost that we should pay in this fast world. It finally rests on the question, are we willing to go back to those barbaric, uncultured and uncivilized worlds.
